Eva Hawker

Certified yoga therapist and
complementary sound therapist

I am a certified yoga therapist, complementary integral sound healing therapist, and classically trained musician and teacher. I am devoted to facilitating the experience of harmony for my clients and students. I help people to restore well-being physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually by customizing the tools of yoga therapy and sound healing therapy to each person’s unique needs. This integral, salutogenic approach to well-being allows each person to experience more freedom from disharmony in body, mind, and emotions.

My therapeutic approach evolved over 30 years through my extensive and diverse education alongside personal and professional experiences. I facilitate transformation as a therapist for individuals and groups in addition to serving as a consultant, mentor, curriculum developer, clinician and trainer in the use of therapeutic sound utilizing evidence-based protocols for well-being.

Certifications: M.A., C-IAYT, YACEP, E-RYT, IICT

My Journey as a Therapist

While I was an undergraduate student in music performance and education, I became a certified fitness trainer for the university and learned to also apply functional anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics to that work. Over time, the techniques I learned to optimize the alignment, function, and development of the physical body influenced my perspective of training the singing voice.

In turn, aspects of music education and performance such as rhythm and breathwork as well as devotion to personal practice and tuning positively impacted my work as a trainer and coach. Eventually, I began to develop my ability to “hear” misalignment in my own mental and emotional bodies by observing the vibrations of physical form and applied this level of discernment to my students and clients.

Intensive studies and certifications in breath and bodywork modalities designed to optimize the human instrument led me into deeper study of yoga. The teachings of yoga revealed the means through which to restore harmony to my physical body from its experiences of injury, illness, and chronic pain as well as to access ease in my energy body through my breath. Not only this, but also the teachings of yoga philosophy and meditation practices lead me to self-compassion and inner peace as I let go of self-judgment and aligned to the Harmony that I am.

As I brought more and more yogic practices into my teaching studio, I began to see enormous shifts in my students, both in the freedom of expression in their singing voices as well as their mental and emotional well-being. The curious academic in me continued searching for the researched scientific basis for these transformations in alignment of body, mind, and spirit.

Inspired by the realized potential of well-being I witness in my students and myself, I continued beyond yoga teacher training into clinical yoga therapy. My yoga therapy training included teachings and practices from multiple yogic lineages and the application of these teachings to the spectrum of human experience with dis-ease and disharmony in the physical, mental, and emotional layers of being.

At the same time, my background as a classically-trained musician, pedagogue, and academic researcher inspired me to expand into the intentional utilization of sound for healing. I sought subject matter experts and many more teachers in the field of sound healing and vibrational medicine to understand the evidence-based science of sound healing and its implications for human health.

My inspiration in my personal and professional activities is the desire to uplift people – to restore and amplify the connection to the same energy that crates worlds. The toolkit I have to offer my clients and students continues to expand. By increasing resonance with well-being and decreasing resonance with discomfort, the Harmony of human design is restored in body, mind, and spirit. I am just the tuning fork.
